The Global Chemical Leasing Award recognizes activities in Chemical Leasing and performance-based business models for sustainable chemicals management on a global scale. Organisations, companies, research institutions and individuals are encouraged to apply.

Hariss International Limited, Uganda, represented by Mr. Bashir Kamulegeya
Hariss International Limited is one of Uganda’s leading manufacturers of food and beverages. Chemical Leasing is applied on dry conveyor lubrication of all the 4 PET production lines and cleaning in place (CIP) of filling machines, syrup tanks and blending machines. They could show significant measured benefits for the environment and for human health, combined with economic advantages what improved their competitiveness on local and international markets.
The Jury considers Ravago´s application as a perfect case forcontinuous improvements with chemical leasing over a long period measurable implementation benefits to the environment and human health sustainable economic development and increased competitiveness.

FKL is a producer of rolling bearings and cardan shafts since 1961. They received a chemical leasing award in 2018 as a pioneer for this business model in Serbia. Since that time the chemical leasing contract was renewed twice and is now valid until 2028. As a consequence of continuous, measurable improvements within chemical leasing FKL is now recognized as a high-quality bearing manufacturer all around the world with more than international references

Ravago collaborates with specialty chemical and ingredient suppliers to deliver sustainable solutions to customers worldwide. They are involved in chemical leasing for more than 10 years and are extending this business model to more and more applications.

Syngenta is a leading company in the agricultural segment that works for global food security. As part of the business, the Professional Pest Management division uses all of Syngenta's knowledge and technology to build a broad portfolio of solutions that contribute to healthier and more sustainable environments. Together with its client Fumajet Syngenta Brazil applies chemical leasing with a unit of payment in Brazilian Real/ m2 of area free of pest, independent of the number of chemicals application. By combining chemical leasing with the innovations in pest management of Syngenta, significant benefits for human health, environment and competitiveness of farmers could be reached.

DÜNGER is engaged in the development and production of granular mineral and organo-mineral fertilizers, using the compaction method, which allows to quickly change the component composition and produce fertilizers with any number of components.
The company sees great prospects in their innovative solution to increase the use of organic components and beneficial living microorganisms in the composition of granular organo-mineral fertilizers.

Brimatech Services GmbH, Austria, represented

Brimatech is an Austrian based market research and consulting company specialized in technology markets.
Advancing the Austrian long-term strategy for green and sustainable chemistry was the focal point of a series of research activities and measures Brimatech has been carrying out since April 2018.
In the first phase, the focus of Brimatech´s research was on Chemical Leasing and similar business models in the chemical industry and beyond, namely in food industry and water sanitation. Its potential and acceptance in Austria were assessed.
In the second phase, advanced digital technologies, such as machine learning, were examined for their role in supporting performance-based business models and enhancing customer services.
In the third and most recent phase, circular economy principles were integrated.
The Jury considers his scientific research as outstanding and extremely promising for the further development of chemical leasing.

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research is a leading scientific and technology research organisation that researches, develops, localises and diffuses technologies to accelerate socioeconomic prosperity in South Africa.
The Biocatalysis Group within the Chemicals Cluster has been developing green and sustainable technologies for a number of years and transferred these technologies to industry partners for commercialisation. A number of projects started with the use of citrus waste and the beneficiation of the waste to establish the technologies have now resulted in a circular economy of the citrus waste for the benefit of the bio-economy in South Africa. The developed solutions qualify for benefit based payments and chemical leasing.

With over 15 years of experience in the chemical sector's R&D and business development, Julien is driven by the belief that chemical industry creates strong value for society, while still facing challenges to deliver it in a fully sustainable way. Therefore, his goal is to demonstrate that business model innovation can complement technological innovation in driving sustainable change in the chemical industry.
His research focuses on integrating Chemical Leasing (ChL) with CO2 emission reduction (or more generally greenhouse gases emission reduction) as a unit of payment.

TEXO is a Fabric Processing Mill, founded 2022 in Sri Lanka which offers Best-in class Dyeing, Finishing & Printing Solutions. To improve efficiency, Texo focusses on using the best dyeing methods and chemicals that work faster and use less water and energy. This target is supported by the performance-based business model Chemical Leasing, which is applied to optimize chemical use, reduce waste and lower costs. Instead of buying large amounts of chemicals, TEXO pays based on performance.

Bioart Biodermocosmetics is a Brazilian company, created in 2010, pioneer in creating and developing in its own laboratory, innovative natural and vegan formulas of CLEAN BEAUTY, based on Green Chemistry and organic raw materials.
To optimize resources and make it more eco-efficient, Bioart established a partnership with DNA VITAL. In this new business model, Bioart can use DNA VITAL idle infrastructure, they can establish an exchange of knowledge and jointly acquire raw materials that are common to the products of both companies. This is e.g. the case with calendula extracts supplied by HEIDI EXTRATOS VEGETAIS.
Bioart proposed this business model of purchasing raw material together to avoid waste and optimize processes by knowledge sharing. It has proven as a sustainable way for start-ups to grow and survive with following green chemistry principles.
Bioart was conceived and is led by Soraia Zonta that created the ideas for this future oriented collaboration.

With over 55,000 associates, Hirdaramani stands as one of the largest manufacturers in the global textile and apparel industry.
This business model leverages Soapberry-based plant-derived detergents as a groundbreaking alternative to synthetic chemicals in the apparel industry. By harnessing Soapberry's natural surfactant properties, it offers a low-impact, eco-friendly solution for garment washing, significantly reducing the dependency on conventional chemical detergents.
What makes this business model truly innovative is its ability to merge sustainability with industrial efficiency. Soapberry detergents are biodegradable, non-toxic, and sustainably sourced, offering a cleaner, safer, and more environmentally responsible alternative. Unlike traditional approaches, this model supports the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) initiative by drastically minimizing water pollution and chemical contamination in wastewater, directly addressing global sustainability challenges.

The District General Hospital, Ampara consists of a bed strength of 833 and caters outpatient services for more than 1500 outpatients daily.
Like at all similar institutions in Sri Lanka, during the provision of routine patient care, the hospital in the past used to consume/use mercury containing items in four main areas:
1. Amalgam for dental treatments.
2. Sphygmomanometers.
3. Thermometers
4.Light sources
The hospital started a new concept for the reduction and elimination of mercury usage that can be applied at all healthcare institution of Sri Lanka. Based on life cycle assessment they introduced suitable substitutes for these mercury containing items and solved the problem of mercury contaminated waste and mercury related human health problems.

humusCO2mp GmbH is a start-up founded in Germany. It pioneers sustainable carbon farming practices that promote soil health, biodiversity, and measurable CO2 sequestration.
The Jury considers this model as unique and highly innovative to address several burning topics simultaneously: CO2 reduction, reduction of unnecessary chemicals consumption and improvement of agricultural efficiency.
Their unique business model generates high-quality CO2 certificates through verified agricultural improvements and provides a transparent bridge between farmers and ESG-focused investors. While the primary goal is climate action through carbon sequestration, a significant side benefit in the sense of Chemical Leasing is the drastic reduction of synthetic chemical usage in farming, achieved through regenerative agricultural practices.

The model of humusCO2mp GmbH focuses on “Cash for Carbon” through regenerative farming techniques. Farmers are rewarded for increasing soil humus content, which effectively sequesters CO2. This approach integrates scientific methods, Gold Standard or comparable certification, and data validation, ensuring environmental and social impact at scale.
